Tulip Library

The Tulip Library is located near the Tidal Basin and between the Washington Monument and the Jefferson Memorial. The Tulip Library was estiblished in 1969 and has become a popular place to compare the various types of tulips. The National Park Service plants imported tulip bulbs from the Netherlands every year. The new plantings each year is to achieve uniform size, height and blooming periods.

I took a few photos of the various tulips during our visit a few weeks ago.

  1. I remember seeing the tulips here a couple of years ago. Your photos are lovely Eileen. I was particularly taken with the six petaled tulip. I’ve never seen one like it before.
