Iris..Today’s Flower

I seem to have a lot of purple flowers in my yard and these Irises are looking beautiful this year. I do like the color purple especially when it comes to any kind of purple flowers. These Irises are growing close to the pond and they seem to be in their happy spot. I am not positive but I think they are called Dwarf German Iris. They bloom early in May and need sun to partial shade.

  1. I really like irises—and they come in so many different colors! People I know who grew up in Kansas call them “flags.” Here in Garden Valley there’s an iris farm where they grow acres of all different colors of irises. It’s a rainbow on the ground this time of year.

  2. Fantastic, a very beautiful flower. Iris’ are on my list to plant this year. I know just the spot to plant them. Enjoyed all your photos very much, thank you.

Iris are wonderful flowers. Then again I can’t think of a flower that isn’t. Thanks for dropping by and commenting on my photos.

  4. Hi Eileen — beautiful pictures. And those miniature iris — or something similar — are some of the few spring flowers that I actually see here in sW Florida (in the marshy areas).

Thank you for your comment on FT-L and for your link to this blog; I have your other one on my Reader, but somehow had missed this one. And also for the link to the Flower meme. I will try to join in on it occasionally.,
