Rhododendron

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all the MOM’s out there!

Our yard and house is surrounded by rhododendron bushes. They are blooming now, but it is sad to see some were damaged from this past winter. The deep snow we had damaged a number of our bushes. We do have some that are still looking beautiful and of course they are purple, one of my favorite colors for flowers.

The Rhododendron is a large genus that has showy flower displays. They can vary in size from shrubs to large trees. We have some that are now taller than our ranch style house. They may be evergreen or deciduous.

This is my entry for Todays Flowers to see more beautiful flowers go and visit http://flowersfromtoday.blogspot.com/

  1. Your rhododendron is so beautiful. I had a similar one for well over 10 years that was zapped by the 2007 drought we had and I lost it. I’m reminded how much I love them.

  2. By the time I get up to Seattle each year, the rhododendrums are at the end of their blooming cycle, so I never get to see them in full bloom. Thanks for your beautiful photos.

  3. Belated Happy Mother’s Day Eileen.

Aha, now I know the name of this flower. I saw them last Saturday at the botanical garden, and the are in clusters. The buds are so pretty.

Oh, the harsh winter snow. I hope these bushes can recover.

  4. Beautiful. I love rhodies. I used to live in Portland, Oregon where they are everywhere. Thanks for visiting Out walking the dog, Eileen. I’m delighted to find your flower blog.

  5. We have three rhododendron around the back of our house, one of which is about 12 feet tall. Ours are also purple and we really enjoy them. Your pictures are beautiful.

  6. Just want to say what a great blog you got here!
I’ve been around for quite a lot of time, but finally decided to show my appreciation of your work!

Thumbs up, and keep it going!

    Cheers
